Web Design Process
While each articles design process differs a little from the other, their general rules or guidelines are about the same. First is Preparation is is the stage in the design process where you gather all your known information on the project and define what the goals are. This stage is all about research and finding out what solutions might work in your design. Next step is incubation, or taking a step back. This gives your mind time the contemplate and work through the research, details, and creative idea it has floating around. According the article “Demystifying the Creative Process,” this phase is most commonly and the easiest place to meet up at. For some taking a step back can cause them to get distracted by every-days immediate concerns instead of letting their mind incubate on this task. Illumination is the next step in the cretics process, or as one article called it, the ‘Eureka!’ moment. This step is when the design finally starts to take develop. Your mind will have come up with ideas that with edge as the basis for a concept. This is when sketches are drawn up using the inspiration, research and the solutions you’ve come up with. Lastly is Execution, the final stage of the creative process. Here the idea has been researched, sketched and developed and is ready to be seen. This is when you can evaluate your idea and it’s effectiveness, whether it’s good or not.
The creative process is essential because I believe it makes creating easier on the creative. We all have different ways we process information so with the creative process it’s tailored for that individual, and during stressful moments the creative process always give you a structure to follow by. With research, critical thinking and allowing your mind time to analyze it all is a healthy way to create that always give you guidelines to fall back on.
I feel I might best fit into the process as the web graphic designer and eventually creative director. My focus is definitely visual and it’d be interesting and fun to be in charge of the overall look and feel a website, app or other UI designs.
